LA ALEGRÍA DE VIVIR

Recientemente publicaba en mis redes sociales un par de fotografías de cuando tuve oportunidad de cursar el taller de periodismo de El Norte en el verano de 1987, de donde egresé para iniciar mi carrera profesional hace 35 años, en el periódico El Porvenir, a donde me recomendó uno de mis primeros mentores, Don Armando Díaz Gerding, una autoridad en el deporte y en la prensa escrita en el Tec de Monterrey, donde cursaba mis estudios de LCC.
Ese taller de periodismo, impartido por la Doctora Mary Gardner, era como una especie de filtro de reclutamiento para el potencial talento que pudiera hacer carrera en el periódico mayor de Editora El Sol, ahora Grupo Reforma, aunque en mi caso no hubo coincidencia de horarios por lo que me fui a iniciar mi actividad laboral en el impreso de la familia Cantú Escalante que en los 80´s era un referente importante en la localidad.
Estas memorias me llevaron a darle su real magnitud a una carrera de tres décadas y media en los medios de comunicación y en la comunicación política, con mucha gratitud de todo lo que he podido servir en diversas instituciones, gracias a lo cual hoy puedo llevar mensajes más alentadores como esta sección de “La Alegría de Vivir” que aborda temas de desarrollo humano, lo cual no hubiera sucedido si no hubiera comenzado desde “abajo”, como dicen, en las redacciones donde escribí mis primeras letras.
Más que hacer una recopilación personal curricular, que sonaría a autoelogio, en esta semana estuve reflexionando la gratitud y privilegio que tengo de poder llevar mensajes de esperanza, de aliento y de crecimiento personal a quienes siguen mis artículos de esta sección o a través de las redes sociales @laalegriadevivirenplenitud.
Me queda claro que, cuando uno tiene una vida para agradecer, deja de pensar en logros personales, sino más bien resalta el privilegio de que todo ha tenido sentido y ha valido la pena si ha podido servirle a alguien más, aunque quizás en mis inicios como comunicador esta faceta no estaba considerada y fue llegando por coyunturas y oportunidades que van presentándose con el paso de los años.
Para ser honesto, cuando elegí estudiar comunicación, por sugerencia de mi padre cuando le dije que quería ser escritor o filósofo, en realidad pasaba por una etapa de la adolescencia en la que me interesaba en desarrollar textos de existencialismo y el pensamiento humano, ideas que se fueron diluyendo temporalmente con el paso de los años.
En la época estudiantil como alumno siempre tuve la convicción de que trabajaría en los medios de comunicación o que haría comunicación institucional, aunque ya para entonces mis temas preferidos eran el deporte y la política, lejos del romanticismo del bachiller.
Por eso cuando mis amigos de detona.com y de otras plataformas me han invitado a escribir, he preferido no entrar en los temas políticos, porque además de que ya hay suficientes analistas en el medio, mi participación en la comunicación pública he preferido mantenerla ajena a expresar mis ideas de manera masiva y le he dado prioridad a desarrollar textos que tienen que ver con la esencia de los seres humanos.
Recuerdo que mi primer artículo que fue publicado, gracias al profesor Díaz Gerding, en una revista interna de deportes del TEC, trataba de los ideales humanos de los griegos clásicos a través de la educación física.
Treinta y cinco años después es muy satisfactorio que pueda seguir poniendo el renglón en la necesidad de volver a los valores básicos, en construir un mundo incluyente y tolerante, en saber sobreponerse de alguna crisis o de algún trastorno como las adicciones y de temas que, si bien no son los más taquilleros, sí resultan ser un espejo útil para quienes los leen y me lo expresan, con lo cual puedo sentir la gratitud y alegría del poder servirle a otros.
Cuando cursaba las aulas de periodismo en el Tec, recuerdo que me decían que escribir nota roja o nota deportiva era una de las mejores maneras de aprender a hacer crónica y a desarrollar una escritura suelta. En ese entonces quizás jamás imaginaría que habiendo comenzado a escribir páginas completas de futbol americano infantil y estudiantil en El Porvenir o cubriendo juegos de ajedrez o las actividades del Círculo Mercantil Mutualista, para El Norte, sentarían las bases de lo que hoy puedo desarrollar para otras audiencias y con otros objetivos.
Cuando me preguntan, ¿por qué adicciones? ¿por qué espiritualidad o desarrollo humano?, mi respuesta es simple y honesta. Mi propia historia y mi propio testimonio, además de una vida para agradecer, habiéndome recuperado de mis propios infiernos, me fueron mostrando el camino para compartir con otros que pudieran estar en la misma situación en que millones, como yo, hemos estado.
Este año cumplo 35 de profesional de la comunicación y el año próximo en febrero, si Dios quiere, llegaré a 25 de haberme levantado de una adicción, por lo que desde el 2014 trato de contribuir como especialista en adicciones con cédula profesional, a devolverle a la vida mucho de lo que me ha dado, con gratitud enorme para mis maestros en el periodismo, en la comunicación social y en el maravilloso mundo de la rehabilitación de cualquier dependencia.
Ayer precisamente recibí un mensaje de esos que acarician el alma, de uno de mis padrinos de inicios de mi recuperación y que hoy comparto como muestra de gratitud de que he recibido mucho más de lo que aún tengo que darle a la vida, además de darme ánimos de que, sin ser artículos de gran rating, poco a poco están cumpliendo su misión social.
“Mi querido Omar, la historia te dará la razón y tú si estás haciendo lo que Dios nos pide y nos pide que lo hagamos desde un acto de amor, al darnos los dones y ponerlos a disposición para que a través de nosotros se transmita este mensaje que Él creó utilizando a Bill W y al Dr. Bob y claro, a los primeros 100 alcohólicos (anónimos). Así es que no me resta más que felicitarte por no poner la lámpara que alumbra, debajo de la cama. Te admiro y respeto. Te envío un fraternal abrazo”, me texteó Tomás desde algún lugar del mundo.
Comparto como un acto de reconocimiento a todas y todos los que se han podido levantar y me enseñaron tanto que, en mi carrera como comunicador, tengo ya más de 500 artículos sobre adicciones, codependencia y crecimiento humano, además de publicar en el 2018 el libro “La Alegría de Vivir, un viaje de las tinieblas a la luz”.
Este año, la vida ha sido generosa y me ha dado el tiempo de desarrollar nuevos proyectos, uno de los cuales, junto con la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, será dado a conocer próximamente, por lo que sigo agradecido de que, aunque falte mucho por hacer en materia de prevención e información de adicciones, seguiremos sembrando semillas de esperanza de que siempre es posible construir una vida útil y feliz.
Sigamos construyendo, entre todos, mejores familiar y mejores comunidades con valores, para una mejor sociedad y mejores países en un mundo ávido de volver a su esencia, el amor incondicional.
