Un recuerdo de Camus

LA ALEGRÍA DE VIVIR

La tremenda ola de calor que azota a gran parte del país me hizo recordar una escena emblemática del libro “El extranjero”, de Albert Camus (1942) en el qué hay infinidad de análisis sobre la posible relación de la salud mental afectada por las altas temperaturas.

“No sentía más que los címbalos del sol sobre la frente e, indiscutiblemente, la refulgente lámina surgida del cuchillo, siempre delante de mí. La espada ardiente me roía las cejas y me penetraba en los ojos doloridos. Entonces todo vaciló. El mar cargó un soplo espeso y ardiente. Me pareció que el cielo se abría en toda su extensión para dejar que lloviera fuego”.

“Todo mi ser se distendió y crispé la mano sobre el revólver. El gatillo cedió, toqué el vientre pulido de la culata y allí, con el ruido seco y ensordecedor, todo comenzó. Sacudí el sudor y el sol. Comprendí que había destruido el equilibrio del día, el silencio excepcional de una playa en la que había sido feliz. Entonces, tiré aún cuatro veces sobre un cuerpo inerte en el que las balas se hundían sin que se notara. Y era como cuatro breves golpes que- daba en la puerta de la desgracia”, relata esta escena mítica de la novela.

Sin duda, más allá del magistral lenguaje literario y de otras interpretaciones existenciales de la obra, esta imagen de Camus simboliza muy bien lo que hoy vivimos en el país como consecuencia del cambio climático.

Ver escenas de gente sin luz, ni agua, soportando temperaturas de 40 grados, sin duda nos pone a reflexionar sobre las afectaciones mentales y al estado anímico que todo esto puede generar.

Por ello más allá de las recomendaciones de hidratación, alimentación saludable, protección de los rayos del sol y otras de carácter fisiológico, deberíamos reparar en los temas relacionados a la salud mental y su impacto en las conductas sociales.

Esperemos que los ánimos no se calienten de más, que la violencia intrafamiliar no crezca y que los pleitos en la calle no se disparen. Debemos aprender a vivir como el planeta nos demanda, a cuidar unos de otros y a estar muy al pendiente de nuestras emociones y conductas que las adversidades generan.
