Dios está allí. A Dios le importa. El plan de Dios es uno en el que podemos participar, uno que nos permite usar cada evento y cada circunstancia en nuestras vidas para efectuar nuestro máximo bien.
Si cometemos errores, no tenemos que preocuparnos que Dios se alejará o nos rechazará. Dios no nos pide perfección. Otros quizá sí; quizá lo esperábamos de nosotros mismos. Dios no lo hace.
No tenemos que depender de nuestros sentimientos. Podemos depender de los hechos. Aun en esos momentos cuando sentimos que nuestra vida o la de otros pudiera ser un error, o cuando sentimos que no es el momento, podemos confiar en que no somos un error y que todo sucede según estaba programado.
Ya no tenemos que depender de nosotros mismos. No tenemos que ver claramente. No tenemos necesariamente que saber qué hacemos, o adónde vamos.

Cuando empezamos a recuperarnos de él, podemos ver que gran parte del sufrimiento que experimentamos está directamente relacionado con nuestra tozudez y nuestro espejismo de control. Cuanto más nos agarremos a los temas, creencias o experiencias que hemos deseado y que ya han quedado viejas, más duro será el «golpe que tenemos que recibir en la cabeza» para aprender. Contrariamente a muchas creencias religiosas, sufrir no es algo noble.
Con frecuencia, es algo simplemente estúpido y procede de nuestra tozudez y de la necesidad de tenerlo todo controlado.
Cuando nos apegamos a nuestro sufrimiento, solemos perder esas «flores que crecen a partir de los momentos de oscuridad».
