A propósito del Día del padre celebrado ayer, leyendo algunos textos sobre los estigmas que se están rompiendo alrededor de las figuras paternas, me parece un gran tributo decir sin ambages que los padres también amamos.

Y es que en el pasado, generaciones atrás, se decía que los padres eran la cabeza de la familia, la figura de autoridad, los responsables de la provisión y la seguridad en el hogar, así como otras formas de describirlos, en su mayoría lejano a una figura afectiva o emocionalmente importante en la vida de los hijos.

Nada más injusto que haber reducido a los papás a esos roles. Me incluyo en esa generación que injustamente nos atrevimos a sentirnos “abandonados” emocionalmente porque nuestros progenitores, en la búsqueda de ser mejores proveedores, se ausentaron mucho tiempo, eventualmente viviendo largos periodos fuera de casa.

Quizás por ello me “brincaron” en algunos chats grupales leer felicitaciones para los padres presentes y responsables. ¿Quiénes somos nosotros para ser juzgadores de lo que es la presencia y la responsabilidad de un padre?

Por supuesto también puse atención en aquellas personas que comienzan a desmitificar al padre violentador, abusivo, egocéntrico y autoritario.

Es innegable que la evolución nos está trayendo a estadios en los que abrazamos las virtudes de la humanidad sin distingo de géneros y con una mayor justicia equitativa en los diferentes roles que jugamos en la familia, en la comunidad y en las naciones.

Recuerdo y lo comparto sin rodeos, que por algún tiempo hice un profundo trabajo terapéutico sobre mi figura paterna y el linaje masculino de mi ser, porque había acumulado consciente o inconscientemente algunas heridas emocionales en ese terreno.

En alguna constelación familiar trabajé mi linaje masculino y resultó muy poderosa la información reveladora de la importancia que tuvo en mi vida mi abuelo paterno, Pedro.

Mi maestro y terapeuta en alguna ocasión me dejó una tarea que en ese momento, con mas de 45 años de edad, me parecía no sólo extraña sino innecesaria. “Le vas a llamar a tu papá o lo vas a buscar y le vas a decir que necesitas escuchar de él que te ama”.

Mi sorpresa fue enorme al ver los resultados de esa sencilla tarea. Mi padre quizás un poco sorprendido también, respondió con honestidad. “Quizás nunca lo expresé con palabras precisas pero todo lo que hice en mi vida lo hice con amor a mis hijos y a mi familia, sin embargo, si para ti es importante ahorita, sí, te digo que te amo”.

Más que liberador fue un momento de encajar y de pertenecer, resolviendo muchos de los temas que para cualquier persona implica tener asuntos pendientes con el padre.

Años después otra terapeuta me dejó otra tarea complementaria, afortunadamente con mi padre aún en vida.

Le pedí una disculpa por alguna vez sin razón y de forma injusta haberlo juzgado o haber sido duro en sus decisiones de vida. Hoy sé que lo hacía desde mis carencias y mis propias necesidades.

Por ello hoy se que he sido muy amado por mi padre terrenal, igual que soy amado por mi Padre el Altísimo. También sé que amo a mi progenitor y le estoy agradecido por tanto.

Como parte de una generación que creció así, con esos estereotipos, a pesar de las circunstancias en mi vida familiar, siempre resolví que mis hijos serían muy amados, que trataría de hacer que lo sintieran y que se los diría cada vez que mi corazón y el suyo lo necesitara.

Si he sido presente y responsable, como sugieren deben ser los padres, solo a mis hijos les tocará responder al respecto.

Lo que si puedo decir es que los padres también amamos, nos damos incondicionalmente, lloramos y gozamos con nuestros hijos y sobre todo, somos tan humanos como ellos.

Por todo lo anterior y más allá de una fecha de celebración comercial, espero que cada día los padres les demostremos y les digamos a nuestros hijos, lo mucho que los amamos.
