Aprender a vivir consigo mismo y a valorar espacios de la sola compañía es un privilegio, aunque algunos han estigmatizado a la soledad con adjetivos negativos.
“Converso con el hombre que siempre va conmigo, quien habla solo espera hablar a Dios un día, mi soliloquio es plática con este buen amigo, que me enseñó el secreto de la filantropía”, escribió Antonio Machado en su poema “Retratos”, magistralmente cantado y musicalizado por Joan Manuel Serrat.
Apoteósica frase esa de “quien habla solo espera hablar a Dios un día”.
Si dejáramos de asociar la soledad con abandono, rechazo, miedo o inseguridad, nos daríamos cuenta del privilegio que es estar consigo mismo, en introspección, meditación, oración o simplemente en silencio.
Recuerdo cuando comenzó mi gusto por las letras, cuando cursaba tercero de secundaria, hace varias décadas, solía pasar noches en vela escribiendo en la mesa de aquel desayunador donde crecí en la colonia Mirador en Puebla.
“Soledad, amiga mía, no sé yo, sin ti que haría”, fueron el intento de algunos versos en mi adolescencia.
Hoy, por supuesto tienen un gran sentido, en la mediana edad, más de 41 años después, cuando una de las cosas que más disfruto es encontrarme conmigo mismo.
En este mundo vertiginoso donde el trajín diario, la interconexión permanente, las redes sociales y el ruido del entorno a veces parece agobiante, la soledad se ha convertido en un privilegio.
Por eso siempre sugiero a mis consultantes y a la gente cercana, atreverse a estar a solas y en paz, al menos media hora de su día activo (no cuando se está dormido).
Y si además de estar a solas se encuentra la paz de hablar a Dios un día, la experiencia, como descrita por Machado, puede ser simplemente extraordinaria.
