Este fin de semana se llevó a cabo en materia deportiva el Clásico Mr. México de la Federación Mexicana de Físico y Fitness, en el que más allá de las preferencias o de las críticas hacia esta disciplina física, es de aplaudir el esfuerzo y dedicación de quienes representan a sus diferentes estados en busca de una medalla de las múltiples categorías de la competencia.
Quizás por mi edad o por una pertenencia generacional, destaco la participación de las categorías de más de 50 años, en las que compiten incluso de más de 70 años, atletas, mujeres y hombres que desde hace años he admirado y respetado, no solo porque a estas alturas de mi vida sea yo un representante de la llamada juventud de la plenitud.
A punto de cumplir mis 54 completos, en esta semana, admiraba las fotografías de mujeres veteranas de más de 50 años con un trabajo impecable, además de no poder más que admirar a los finalistas varones en la categoría de más de 70 años con una condición envidiable que no le pide nada a un joven veinteañero.
Sin pretender entrar en un cliché de la frase que se le atribuye a Víctor Hugo de que “los 40 son la edad madura de la juventud y los 50, la juventud de la edad madura”, la realidad es que, como escribía la semana pasada en nuestro artículo dedicado a los adultos mayores, cada vez es más común que quienes antes éramos considerados “viejos” ahora seguimos activos, vigorosos y llenos de vitalidad.
Además de admirar a los veteranos del Mr. México, en un repaso rápido me vinieron a la mente tres personalidades de las redes sociales o del mundo del espectáculo, que no solo tienen una gran figura, sino que llevan una vida muy activa de influencia ante quienes les seguimos.
El italiano Gianluca Vacchi, de 54 años, la mexicana Salma Hayek, de 55 y la norteamericana Elizabeth Hurley, de 56, son apenas tres influencers de Instagram muy visitados además de sus bellezas evidentes, por la actividad que destilan, cómo lo es también en el TikTok Erika Buenfil, que a sus 57 es un fenómeno en la mercadotecnia digital.
Seguramente la lista puede crecer pero mencionamos estos tres casos por el número de seguidores que tienen y porque uno pensaría que su Target somos los de su misma edad, que si los habemos, aunque en su mayoría son admirados por jóvenes que quizás encierren muchos sueños al verles en las imágenes que proyectan.
Va el comentario en dos sentidos. Primero por la natural popularidad que pueden alcanzar este tipo de personas que desafían su edad y se mantienen vigentes en sus respectivas esferas. Segundo por la reflexión de que estas generaciones que llegan hasta los 70’s y en algunos casos los 80’s, lejos de ser adultos mayores en su ocaso, siguen siendo importantes activos que deben valorarse en la vida productiva, por lo que países jóvenes como México deberíamos estar pensando en obtener de ellos la sabiduría y el respeto por sus historias de vida, antes de pensar en jubilarlos.
Como lo hemos sostenido en otras ocasiones, la formula sin duda es la de una sociedad y una economía que abra espacios a los jóvenes y que sean compatibles con la experiencia y trayectoria de los mayores.
En nuestro caso, ser parte de la generación de 50 y más, es una bendición en la que todos los días practicamos la alegría de vivir en gratitud.
Gratitud por la vida, por la salud, por estar activos con la energía de un joven y porque tenemos mucho valor que agregar en donde sea que nos demanden alguna acción, servicio o actividad productiva.
Cómo la canción de Violeta Parra, “gracias a la vida que me ha dado tanto” sin duda, es lo primero que hacemos en la mañana al amanecer y en la noche antes de dormir.
Creemos que los 50’s ni son los nuevos 30’s como alguien pretendió expresar a través de una película, ni tampoco es la juventud de la madurez como escribió Víctor Hugo, simplemente es un ciclo de vida que algunos elegimos vivirlo en gratitud y de la mejor manera posible, buscando nuestra mejor versión en tiempo presente.
Por lo pronto, gracias a los que son ejemplo de vida y gracias al Creador por permitirnos seguir siendo de ese grupo que nos mantenemos productivos y plenos.
