LA ALEGRÍA DE VIVIR

En el tiempo que llevo de ejercer la noble tarea de trabajar en adicciones, desafortunadamente me sigo topando con personas que, por las razones que sean, violentan los derechos humanos de los consumidores, incluso si fueran sus familiares.

Muchas veces por desesperación, otras por desinformación o ignorancia, porque son presa de gente sin escrúpulos y por diversas causas, las familias siguen pensando que “anexar” a quien consume es la solución a todo el malestar de todos los integrantes del sistema.

De entrada, el término anexar no solo me parece peyorativo sino que es indicativo de una privación de la libertad con el pretexto de ayudarles a “reformarse” de su adicción, en contra de su voluntad.

En mis redes sociales y mis mensajes de celular abundan las preguntas sobre internamientos a sus familiares, sin siquiera haber hecho una evaluación o diagnóstico que indique la ruta terapéutica a seguir, más bien como queriendo zafarse “del problema”, al ponerlo en manos de otros.

Lo que no imaginan esas familias es que, cuando el consumidor salga, si se trata de un centro no autorizado y en contra de su voluntad, además de los resentimientos contra quienes tomaron la decisión de “guardarlos”, posiblemente habrá secuelas de la probable violación a sus derechos humanos, lo que eventualmente puede ser un detonador para que la persona vuelva a consumir.

Es común también, tratando de ayudar a un ser querido, que una persona lleve con engaños a un grupo o a una terapia a quien pudiera presentar una adicción, rompiendo con ello la posibilidad de una relación de confianza con el profesional o miembro de la agrupación que lo recibe.

En mi caso siempre pregunto si la persona con adicción es mayor de edad y está de acuerdo en el tratamiento, para que desde el contacto inicial la comunicación sea con ella y evitar ser parte de los entramados con los que a veces suelen obligarles a ir a un consultorio. Si es menor de edad por supuesto el protocolo es otro y los padres o tutores son responsables.

En cualquiera de los casos soy de los que prioriza el respeto a los derechos humanos, el quitar estigmas a la enfermedad mental, así como la claridad y transparencia con la que habremos de relacionarnos.
